" A predator from the early Triassic period" by T, aged 5Jan 24, 2009
This tanystropheus should be way smaller, but still, we got it quite cheaply and I like it because it can bend easily and its head is not bendy - typical in nothosaurs. I might sometimes use it as an elasmosaurus but it might not be as realistic as the Safari elasmosaurus. The feature that makes it bend is holes in its neck. I would have expected it to be a little more durable because one of the stripes on the top of the body seems to be cracking a tiny bit. Overall I am very pleased with this toy and it is a very nice nothosaur.

Tany is a little too big for RPG useOct 08, 2007

Tanystropheus was a Mid to Late Triassic protosaur (not a dinosaur). It's
fossils are found in Europe and the Near East. Unfortuately for RPG (role-play game ) use, this Tany is waaaay too big. Tanys' lengths are sometimes given as 10 feet, more usually 20 feet. At 12 inches, this Tany would be 48 to 60 feet long in 25-28 mm scale. If you can ignore that drawback, this Tany, unlike any replica I've seen to date, has a wonderful
feature: It's neck is poseable!

Smaller than the average dino toyJan 12, 2010

The other reviews comment that the size of this dino is not to scale. That may be the case. I love the look of this dino despite the size. I am not a dino expert, my child just loves to collect and play with them. So, from a casual user, I think they should have made it larger. I think the price for this dino is lower than others because of the size being smaller.
